It was not really that long ago that hippies and tree huggers were the only ones to show concern about the well-being of the ecosystem. That has totally changed now, since we all seem to have an awareness that the planet is having troubles, and we all have a part to play in fixing it. Unless everyone begins to start living much more environmentally friendly we won’t be able to fix the problems of the environment. This must happen soon and living in approaches more friendly to the environment should become an objective for every individual family. Here are some tips that can help you save energy, primarily by making your kitchen more green.
Start out with exchanging the bulbs. Obviously you shouldn’t confine this to only the cooking area. Compact fluorescent lightbulbs are generally energy-savers, and you will need to use them instead of incandescent lights. These bulbs are usually energy-efficient which means electricity consumption is lower, and, while they cost a bit more to buy, will outlast an incandescent light ten times over. Changing the light bulbs would likely keep plenty of bulbs out of the landfills, and that’s good. It goes further than merely replacing the lights, though; turning off lights that aren’t needed is definitely another good thing to do. In the kitchen is where you’ll frequently come across members of a family, and often the lights are not turned off until the last person goes to bed. Of course this also happens in some other rooms, not simply the kitchen. Try keeping the lights off unless you absolutely need them, and discover just how much electricity you can save.
From the above it really should be apparent that just in the kitchen, by itself, there are numerous little opportunities for saving energy and money. Eco-friendly living just isn’t that hard. Largely, all it takes is a little bit of common sense.
We hope you got benefit from reading it, now let’s go back to banana & custard tart recipe. You can cook banana & custard tart using 8 ingredients and 4 steps. Here is how you do that.
The ingredients needed to prepare Banana & Custard Tart:
- Use 1 Frozen Sweet Fran/Pie Base * I used 22cm case
- You need 3 Bananas *if large ones, you probably need 2 and 1/2
- Provide 2 Eggs
- Use 1/4 cup Caster Sugar
- Use 1/2 cup Cream
- Prepare 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- Take 1 tablespoon Plain Flour
- Take Almond Flakes
Instructions to make Banana & Custard Tart:
- Preheat oven to 160 to 170C. Place the frozen sweet pie base on an oven tray. *I am sure that the home made sweet tart base would taste a lot better, but I always used ready-to-bake frozen Sweet Pie Base for this, and it is just fine.
- Mix Eggs, Sugar, Cream, Flour and Vanilla very well, then warm in the microwave. Do not cook the mixture, you just need to warm it at low power for a few minutes.
- Cut the bananas about 2 to 3cm and arrange the pieces on the pie base. If the pie base is still frozen, it is OK.
- Pour the Egg mixture over the Banana pieces and sprinkle some Almond Flakes, then bake for 50 minutes or until the custard is cooked and golden. Cool completely.
